 13/01/2023- Fake Demerara Gold Sugar in Circulation

The Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) wishes to confirm to the general public that fake Demerara Gold packaged sugar is in circulation, and on the shelves of some supermarkets in Guyana.

The packaging is of a slight variation to the genuine GuySuCo (Demerara Gold) packaging. It mimicking almost the same design at the front and back, bears the GuySuCo’s local address, telephone number and email address. The package also claims to be “A Product of Guyana”.  Further, GuySuCo cannot guarantee the quality of the content, and as such, GuySuCo will not be held liable if the use of this item causes health or other complications.

Resellers of Demerara Gold are therefore asked to be vigilant when purchasing sugar from third parties and if unsure, reach out to the GuySuCo’s Marketing Department on marketing@guysuco.com or telephone number (592) 220-2861-4, ext. 261

This discovery was made earlier this week, and the matter is currently under investigation. Genuine Demerara Gold sugar is currently available for wholesale at GuySuCo at $5800 per bale (40lbs).

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF ROLE

Security Guards are responsible for ensuring safety of assets at the Terminal, while monitoring persons, vehicles and other items entering and leaving the Company’s premises.

INVITATION FOR BIDS

 The Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc., through its Agriculture Operations Department,      LBI, East Coast Demerara invites sealed bids for the procurement of: –

  • SEMI MECHANICAL PLANTING TRAILER

A complete set of bidding documents can be downloaded from www.guysuco.com free of charge or obtained at a non-refundable cost of G$2,000.00. Payment for same must be made at the Cashier, Head Office – L.B.I, E.C.D and documents are to be collected from the Secretary – Engineering Services Department upon presentation of the receipt.

Bids must include a copy of the Business Registration, valid Tax and NIS Certificates.

Bids must be appropriately marked and delivered to GuySuCo Head Office, RFP Tender Box – LBI Estate on or before 9:00hrs on Thursday, 28th February, 2023.

All Domestic and International bids are accepted by the Guyana Sugar Corporation.

The Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc. reserves the right to accept or reject any or all of the tenders without assigning any reason(s).

  1. RFP FD-16-2022- AERIAL APPLICATION OF FERTILIZERS VIA DRONES (Retender)

Closing Date: Thursday 16th February, 2023
