The Guyana Sugar Corporation is wholly owned by the Government of Guyana and governed by a Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer who is appointed by the Board. The Chairman, Vice Chairman and all Directors are appointed by the Government of Guyana as the shareholder of the Corporation and such power is exercised by the Minister of Agriculture on behalf of the Government.
