In 1978 the Estate was awarded a Medal of Service for exceptional performance and was among the best sugar producing estates until 2017 when the APNU/AFC government ceased its operations causing a devastating blow to the residents of Rose Hall and the surrounding areas, many of whom had their livelihoods suddenly taken away.
However, in 2020, the Irfaan Ali-led government reaffirmed its commitment to the full revival of Rose Hall Estate and has committed to its reopening by October 2023.
